A Rare Opportunity to Learn the Wisdom and Science of Sound from a Master of Naada Yoga and Svara Yoga

The Chakra Institute invites spiritual seekers of all disciplines, therapists, meditators and all others to experience sound as a means to begin or deepen your spiritual journey.

Light on the Hill welcomes Sri Shyamji Bhatnagar for a weekend workshop of spiritual self-exploration. Shyamji is one of the world’s masters of Naada and Svara Yoga, the branches of yogic science that examine subtle aspects of sound and breath. Drawing on aspects of Yoga, Tantra and Vedanta, Shyamji will address the essential question “Who am I?” by chanting sacred sounds and mantras which participants will repeat in the traditional call-and-response manner. The sounds curb the mind of its restlessness, and the space between thoughts becomes wider. In the silence of the space, the truth is revealed.

This workshop is highly experiential. Shyamji will teach the critical difference between singing and chanting, and the precise pronunciation of Sanskrit syllables and mantras, which is essential for their effectiveness. Shyamji’s sounds purify the network of psychoenergetic currents that vitalize the subtle body. Shyamji will also play the tambura whose own eerie vibrations enhance the effect of the chanting.

Sri Shyamji Bhatnagar

Sri Shyamji was born and raised in India. At age 12, he met his guru who instructed him in the rare oral tradition of svara yoga, the state of union realized by means of one’s own breath. The grace of his guru (guru krippa) and the spiritual teachings he imparted (sadhana) are the basis for Shyamji’s extraordinary teaching career of more than fifty years. He is one of the few authentic, first-generation Indian spiritual teachers active in the West today. He conducts classes and workshops in New York City; New Hope, Pennsylvania; the Netherlands; France; Belgium; and Colombia.

This workshop includes:

An introduction to a system of psychospiritual growth that combines theory (Microchakra Psychology™) with practice (InnerTuning™ ), in order to live a balanced life. The system builds on the ancient Tantric and Vedic scriptures of India, enriching traditional wisdom with contemporary psychology and science to meet the needs of modern times.

  • A unique and detailed explanation of chakras and their component parts, the microchakras — the centers of energy in the subtle body.
  • Experience of timeless, transcendental sounds produced through vocalizations (mantra) and sustained tones from the tambura, a stringed musical instrument. These sounds create an abundance of one of the five primary elements of matter: akasha, which maximizes the flow of energy to the microchakras and produces ethereal space. This space quiets the mind and dissolves microchakra blockages influencing behavior, emotions, feelings and thoughts.
  • Suggestions to make everyday living more meaningful, in areas such as interpersonal relations, childrearing, yoga practice, meditation, nutrition; even sleep posture and choice of clothing color.
When

The workshop will be held on Saturday, November 21 from 1:00-5:00 pm and on Sunday, November 22 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm.
