About Sangha
Sangha is a Sanskrit word that means “spiritual community.” Members join together to engage in spiritual practices, explore teachings and support each other on their spiritual journeys. Those belonging to the Hidden Treasure Sangha must be graduates of the Hidden Treasure Program. Graduates of this program mistakingly think the Sangha will be similar in format and teaching to the Hidden Treasure weekends but the Sangha emphasizes the spiritual dimension of our being more than the psychological.
Meeting Locations
HT Sangha gatherings take place in two locations throughout the year:
- Light on the Hill Hillside House at 291 Blake Hill Rd., Van Etten, NY or Inner Light Lodge at 209 Blake Hill Rd.
- First Baptist Church—driveway off Court St. just past the Presbyterian Church, Ithaca, NY
Joining the Sangha is a Commitment
HT Sangha members are expected to engage in daily meditation/prayer. Daily practice and attendance at retreats help deepen and enrich the Sangha discussions. All members of the HT Sangha are asked to attend the four half-day programs and as many of the ten hour-long monthly gatherings as possible. Those who live at a distance are able to tune into the short monthly gatherings via Zoom.
- Four half-day programs (9:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m.) on Saturdays throughout the year. The half-day programs begin with a long meditation and spiritual teaching, followed by discussion on the teaching and any spiritual challenges members are facing. Sangha members are asked to bring their lunches except for the December meeting when Light on the Hill provides the lunch. Attendees are encouraged to eat together after the morning session. Meetings take place at Light on the Hill Hillside House (Alice’s house) or Inner Light Lodge.
- Ten hour-long monthly Sangha gatherings from 9:00 a.m.–10:15 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Music for settling in begins at 9:00am followed by a silent meditation at 9:15. The gatherings take place on the 4th Saturday of each month. (We do not meet in November or December due to the winter holidays.) Monthly gatherings include a long meditation, reading or exercise, and discussion.
- At least one spiritual retreat during the year (of your choosing). Members are encouraged to attend the three-day Hidden Treasure graduate retreat March 13-16, 2025.
The cost for the year is $200 for both the four long Saturdays and ten short Saturdays meetings. This can be paid in September or over several months. The cost includes rental space forl the meeting places.
