& the worlds we create
a retreat with George Draffan
April 15-19, 2011 or
April 15-17, 2011***
Light on the Hill
Van Etten, New York
Our lives are, to a large extent, run by habituated patterns that shape how we experience the world, what we can see and what we can do. But not completely.
In this retreat, we will explore how our emotions, impulses, and actions evolve into our experience, and how we become trapped in self-reinforcing worlds. And we will work with several tools for loosening our habits, dissolving the projected worlds, and creating new possibilities in our lives.
The retreat will include instruction in meditation and contemplation, facilitated group discussion, and individual interviews.
Sitting meditation will combine stability (shamatha) and insight (vipashyana).
Moving meditation will include simple Taoist tai chi (qigong) exercises suitable for all levels.
***An optional 2-day retreat is now available. You may arrive Friday around 5:00 p.m. and leave Sunday after dinner, for $250.
