Contemplative Concert Series

Sunday, March 20

Two Concerts: 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.

Come journey through the winter with three concerts held in our beautiful Stillpoint Sanctuary. The traditional concert model is often defined by applause, perfectionism, and the performer as spectacle. We break away from this model through the silence and intimacy of the sanctuary itself. Come listen, meditate and nourish with music designed for contemplation and the life of the soul.

Weeping Planet Vocal Ensemble is a new seven-part unaccompanied singing group that draws from all periods, traditions, and cultures. We choose “weeping” for our name because we are trying to listen now, to the call of our planet. However, we sing songs of celebration, sorrow, and the full endeavor of being human. This program will center on a jewel of sacred, Renaissance choral music: William Byrd’s Mass for Three Voices. Surrounding this Mass will be early music and other choral works that might truly be considered healing.
